School is an important part of life – it helps young adults to determine their future career choices as they approach the important age of 16.
It is with this in mind we feel it is important to inspire future generations of young adults as they look to professionals for advice and tips about their options.
Our Director Paul Taylor was approached by EBSI to speak to year 11 students at Featherstone School, Southall. The students were about to go into Sixth Form and therefore were choosing subjects based on their preferred career choices. EBSI is a global leader in education and business brokerage, delivering quality products and services to enable all clients in education and businesses to increase their opportunities in the global market.
It aims to provide businesses with the most cost-effective route to recruit talented young people and adults, provide educational institutions with the forums to introduce its students to national and international businesses from diverse industries and professions, and provide young people and adults with the opportunity to realise their ambitions in the workplace, as well as many others. It has previously partnered with CIPR, British Airways and Ealing Hammersmith and West London College.
Students interested in Design, Marketing and Web Development were given 30 minute one-on-one slots with Paul throughout the day to ask questions about the industry and what they needed to do to prepare. This included the subjects they would need to study at Sixth Form, whether they needed to go to University or do an apprenticeship, the prospects of their desired career choice and wage expectations. They also received advice on job applications, how to present their CV and interview techniques – all important skills when applying for jobs.
We hope the advice and tips they were given were useful for the students at Featherstone School and we look forward to working with many more schools in the future.
