In December 2014, Facebook announced that it would be rolling out a new "Call-To Action" button for Business Pages.
The button will be positioned at the top of the page, beside the 'Like' button embedded in the Cover Photo. The button has been well received by businesses and marketers alike due to it encouraging Facebook users to take actions aligned with business objectives. For example if you are an online retailer you will be able to drive customers to your website and browse your ecommerce shop.
There are now seven Call-To-Action buttons available:
- Book Now
- Contact Us
- Use App
- Play Game
- Shop Now
- Watch Video
The feature came just in time for US-based companies, who were able to tweak seasonal inbound campaigns for the Holidays. It is set to be released worldwide, including the UK, this year.
Following the reduction in promotional page posts in news feeds, the new Call-To-Action button has been widely met with praise by those who have seen positive results.
Brian Kim, Director of Acquisition of online retailer Dollar Shave Club says “Over the course of a three-week test, the Sign Up Call-To-Action button delivered a 2.5x higher conversion rate versus other comparable social placements aimed to drive new user acquisition.”
Please note, if you administer a Business Page you may have to amend your cover photo, repositioning images and text which may become hidden by the button. If you need help with the design please contact us.
The move has also led to the internet community starting to request additional buttons and providing suggestions such as "Donate" buttons for charities and "Apply" buttons for educational institutions.
