National Dance Awards

National Dance Awards

Consider This UK was delighted to be invited to The Critics' Circle National Dance Awards held at The Robin Hood Theatre at The Place, London on 28th January 2013.

Established in 2000, the awards are now in their 13th year and celebrate the best dancers, choreographers and dance industry leaders. Sixty members of the Dance Section of the Critics' Circle nominated and voted upon performances held between 1st September 2011 and 31st August 2012.

The Chairman of the Dance Section of The Critics' Circle Graham Watts OBE introduced the presentation and dedicated this year's awards to his late colleagues Charles Hedges, John Percival and Freda Pitt; all of whom have sadly passed away since the last ceremony was held.

The awards were hosted jointly by Kenneth Olumuyiwa OBE and Gary Avis who thoroughly entertained us from their dance intro through to the touching dedication from Kenneth to Robert Cohen, the winner of the De Valois Award for Outstanding Achievement.

We would like to congratulate all those who won an award, as well as those recognised with a nomination. Among the winners were our client The English National Ballet, whose dancers Ksenia Ovyanick and Zdenek Konvalina walked away with the outstanding female and male Classical Performance Awards respectively.

ZooNation Dance Company was nominated three times this year after Some Like It Hip Hop returned to the West End in Autumn 2012. As Producer of the show, our very own Creative Marketing ConsultantGeorgina Harper was thrilled to see Dancers Pro Award for Outstanding Modern Performance go to ZooNation stars Teneisha Bonner and Tommy Franzén.

We would like to send our heartfelt congratulations to our good friend Kate Prince for her amazing achievements and for creating such a groundbreaking, unique and immensely entertaining show.

We were especially proud to see Jeanette Siddall deservedly win the Dance UK Industry Award. We have known Jeanette for over 12 years and first met whilst working with her in her capacity as the first full-time Director of our client and friend Dance UK. She continues to be a tour de force in dance and we are delighted her hard work has been acknowledged.

After being presented the award, Jeanette said: “I’m truly surprised to receive this very special award. I feel the luckiest person to have had such a great career. Thank you to everyone for the amazing performances, brilliant dancers and everyone working in all aspects of dance who it has been my privilege to know and to work with”.
